FICCIONES
ELGREEN PROJECT (a.k.a.: FICCIONES) X TLaloC
When Jorge Luis Borges quotes a passage about Uqbar —which is found on the last pages of the Anglo-American Cyclopedia (New York, 1917)— he is enabling the occurrence of a fiction. He believes that is the first step in the imaginary conception of a place that appears to be impossible. His observations later lead to the discovery of Tlön, a planet that is non-existent yet defined with astounding precision. The task of creating a universe through “fictions” corresponds with the fabrication of TLaloC’s ELGREEN PROJECT. Throughout this journey we will find a series of subtle allegories to Borges’s work. However, putting the link to the short stories aside, the exposition deals with a carefully built reality in which we can get lost due to how tangible and articulated its cosmos can become, not to mention the absurd taxonomy of its totality of objects. At first glance, we fleetingly recognize the fabric that produces this reality; later, we find ourselves locked inside its machinery, and finally we get lost among the debris of its production without ever knowing where the fiction begins and where it ends. That is precisely the intention of such journey: a wonderful manufacture of created, used and discarded objects.
